A bit of history
1912 Cornerstone of a synagogue on Yehuda Halevi Street, after the wooden hut of Tel Aviv’s pioneers.
1918 The Torah scrolls evacuated during the 1917 expulsion return in a festive procession.
1931 Heichal Hatalmud is built in the International Style by architect Philip Hitt.
1934 Inauguration of the Heichal Hatalmud yeshiva, backed by Mayor Meir Dizengoff. The street takes its name.
2023 Lag BaOmer: the Haslat community reopens a morning minyan in the neglected building.
2026 Renovation under way: the shul becomes the Jewish heart of Neve Tzedek again.
